Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

I’ve been spending all day in bed with this little guy:

I started reading it on Sunday, I think, and finished it earlier today. I almost haven’t been out of bed actually. Morten and I’ve been watching a movie and just chilling. It’s so nice not having to worry about anything. He’s out buying some grocery at the moments, when he comes back we’re gonna watch Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close together. I can’t wait to see the movie.

The book was amazing. It’s about this boy, Oskar, who lost he’s father in 9/11. He finds a key in his fathers room about one year after his death and starts searching for the lock all over New York city. Though he’s the main character of the book, I sorta feel like it’s he’s fathers story we’re following, and the history of his family. An easy book to read and super hard to put away. I really didn’t want to sleep last night, I just wanted to finish it:P

I love having time to read again!!!

Have you read it or seen the movie?

Enjoying my vacation to the fullest!

I’ve been feeling so good the last couple of days. I love not having anything to worry about and I love doing stuff I’ve been wanting to do for so long, I just haven’t been abel to because of school. When I woke up on Wednesday after being so hungover on Tuesday, I had this craving for a run. So I went out and run for 25 minutes. I know it’s not that much, but I haven’t worked out in almost a year, I guess I have to start somewhere. When I went to bed that night I started reading again. And today I finished the book. It’s just such a great feeling finally having time to do things that makes me happy. I actually went for a run today as well. I’m hoping to get in shape for the summer, even though I know it’s just around the corner.

The book I just finished was The perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. It was such an easy book to read (but good), that’s why I finished it so quickly. It’s actually all just letters from a 15 (he turns 16 during the story) year old boy, telling us about his life. He’s ups and downs. I really loved it. And I just discovered that they’ve made a movie of it, which will be in the cinemas in the end of November, at least here in Australia. I feel like Australia is really behind on everything though. Maybe it’ll be out soon where you guys are!? That’s a movie I really want to see for sure! Have you read the book?

The freelance job is going really well. We’ve made 4 different logos for the company to have a look at and decide what way they to go. We’re sending them in 5 minutes, I’m very excited to see which one they want. Cause of course you get your favorite while working on these type of things. Anyway, I have to run. We’re going to a housewarming party tonight and I have to get ready. We should actually be there in 25 minutes and I haven’t even put on my make-up. :/

We need to talk about Kevin

Photos from Sunday.

I’ve started on a new book now. The guys in the book store recommended it too me, so I had to give it a try. So far it’s pretty good. It’s called We need to talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver. The book is all letters from Kevins mom too her ex husband. Kevin is in juvy for killing seven of his fellow students and two adults. In the letters she tells her ex about her thoughts around the decision of having a baby, she not wanting one and the outcome of it all.

The movie based on the book is in the cinemas right now, I think. I haven’t seen it or watched any trailer for it yet. I really wanna finish the book first:)

Unexpected nice weather

Yesterday was so boring. It rained ALL day. It was supposed to be exactly the same today, but suddenly the sun came out and all the clouds disappeared. I was so happy!

chilling on the porch.

I’m reading a new book now, called Room, so far I really like it!

I dragged the sofa out on the porch, so much better to sit in.

Mengele Zoo

Hi guys. Thank you for great feedback on my new layout. I’m so glad you like it! I’m sure you needed a change here as much as I did.

I haven’t written anything the last couple of days because I’ve had so much to do. I’m working on a project now, which I’ll tell you all about when it’s up and running. I’m super excited and a little bit nervous. I’ve also been helping Morten with a website he’s working on, which is not done yet, so I still have a lot to do. In a little over one week I’m going on a vacation. I’ll tell you more about that later as well. Right now I have so many things to look forward to, I just hope this week flies by really quickly.

I haven’t told you about any good books lately, mostly because I’m not reading as much as I used to. But now I’ve just finished a really good one, so I figured I should recommend it to you guys. It’s a Norwegian book, called Mengele zoo. There is also an english version of it. The story is about a little boy called Mino, he grew up in the jungle with his family, until one day when the Americans came to their country to tear down the forest to dig for oil. Mostly the book is about environment protection. You see the story through a little boys eyes, a little boy who loves the jungle, his birth place. He grows up and want revenge on the people who ruined his home. This is really a good book, and the turn it takes is so cool. Have you read it?

The last weeks

Time is flying by so quickly down here. There’s always so much to do, both at home and at school. I’m having a great time though! It’s weird that I’ve already been here over a month, cause it doesn’t feel like it.

In the last weeks….

…we got a dart board.

…we’ve had a party and played some dart.

And people fell asleep on the couch, all tagged with a black sharpie. Nice smilies, right?

…we bought a projector and watched some movies:)

…we’ve handed in our first assignment.

Mine didn’t turn out any good. I hate it, but I got myself to thank. Cause I did it the night before the due date. Stupid me, I wasn’t the only one though. (this is just the first one I printet, not the final one)

..I’ve read a book, the book thief. Wonderful book. I loved it!

…I’ve placed some my clothes in the closet. I Still got some organizing to do in my room before I’m ready to show it to you;)

I’ve also been out running by the beach four times. Not much considering I’ve been here 5 weeks. But it’s a start. The summer is still a few months away.

Ida’s dance

I’ve been gone a few days. Not on a vacation or anything. Just had a little time off the website. It’s so much going on in my life at the moment. I’ve been working on the Facebook campaign the last week and today we had the presentations. I’m not happy with how it turned out. I’m just glad we finished in time. I don’t feel I’m putting a hundred percent into what I’m doing these days. My mind is always some place else. Maybe not so weird?

On Monday I bought a new book. The most amazing/sad/wonderful book I’ve ever read. I cried from beginning to end. It’s a mothers story about her daughter. It’s called Idas dans (Ida’s dance). She gets cancer, leukemia, at the age of 18. For 14 months she fought to defeat the illness. In the end she had to give up. Her mother tells the story from her own eyes, all her thought, feelings and how her family reacts to the illness. It’s such a sad story, but it’s so real and uncensored. It feels like you’re there witnessing everything. Even though I knew the book ended bad I was hoping she would make it.

I can really relate to the first part of the book, where she gets the news from her doctor. My father was sitting in the same chair as her mother did, just two weeks ago. Even though my cancer is not as deadly as the one Ida had, I understand the feeling, the desperation and the fear. Everything is so uncertain. Right now I just want to get rid of this stupid illness, I just want to get the operation over with, so that I can live normal again. In the end of this week I’ll get the test results back and hopefully an operation date.

Live each day like it’s your last. Tomorrow it might be to late.

off to bed with a new book

Yesterday I finished a book I’ve been reading the last couple of weeks, Sarah’s key by Tatiana de Rosnay. The book is about the Jew extermination in France. A family is suddenly taken from their home and transferred to a building along with all the other jewish families. Before they leave the apartment, Sara, manages to lock her brother in a closet to keep him safe. She thought they would just be gone for a little while and then she would be abel to return to lock him out. Little did she know that the family would never return. 60 years after the horrible night in France an American girl is looking into the past. She hears about Sara and decides to find out what happened to her.

A really good book which grabs your attention from the very beginning. It was interesting reading about how the Holocaust happened in France and about the terrible conditions they lived under. I’m starting a new book now, another one by Cecilia Samartin. I just love Cecilias books. The english title of the book is Tarnished beauty. I haven’t heard anything about it, but I’m sure it’s good. Have you read it? I’m off to bed now to start reading. Good night:)

on my night table atm

On Friday I finished reading Brida by Paulo Coelho. I loved it. It’s the story of Brida and her pursuit of wisdom. She wants to learn magic and on the way she finds the love of her life, her second half. Beautiful written by Paulo as usual. I really like his books.

I’m in this place right now where I need to read before I go to bed. If I don’t, I just can’t go to sleep. Sounds weird, I know, but that’s how it is. I sleep so much better after I’ve read a few pages, then my mind is in the book and not wondering off thinking about stupid things. I bought a new book today, Salvadoreña by Cecilia Samartin. I read Ghost heart this summer and fell in love with it. Therefore I wanted to try another one of her books. I can’t wait to get started. Have you read it?

effective day

I know I promised to show you some of my new clothes, I haven’t had time to take photos of them yet. If I get time I’ll do it tomorrow:) It’s two days since I blogged last, It doesn’t feel like it at all, the days goes by so quickly. Sometimes I wish there were more hours in a day. After school started again I’ve just been so busy and I can’t find time to keep up with my site as much as I used to. There is also a photo challenge I haven’t had time to look at, which should have been closed a while ago. I’m sorry about this, hopefully I’ll get some time this weekend.

Anyway, today I’ve been a really good girl. I was supposed to go out and drink, but instead I stayed home. First I cleaned my room, then I worked out (something I haven’t done in several months) and then I took some sun. I feel so good right now. Tomorrow is a new school day, we have a lot of work ahead of us. The new assignment is a group thing, we got a building in Oslo (Akershus festning) and the sentence:

Something old,
something new,
something borrowed
and something YOU

We have to use the building as an inspiration and use the lines in our final product. We decide what the final product will be, a poster, something in 3D, a little movie or whatever. This is one of the hardest tasks we’ve ever been given. I don’t like it when the assignments is too open. Hopefully the idea we have right now is good enough. I’ll probably tell you more about this later when we’re done:)

I finished The shadow of the wind last Monday, it was such a good book. I really liked it, especially the ending. This is a book I would recommend everyone to read. I’ve started a new book now, Eat, pray, love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Since they’re making a movie of this book now, I figured I just had to read it first. Hopefully I’ll be done before the movie premiere, which is October 1st here in Norway.
Have you read the book?

No time for goodbye

My father and I have one thing in common these days. We’re both hooked on reading. Everytime he finish a new book he calls me to tell me about it and vice-versa. On Wednesday and Thursday he told me about this book No time for goodbye he was so eager and it made me curious so I started to read it on Friday morning and didn’t stop until I was done with it late last night. OMG, It was so exiting! I just couldn’t stop reading. It’s about a 14-year-old girl who fights with her father, the last thing she says before going to bed was that she wished they were dead. The next morning her parents and her brother is gone. 25 years go by and she still hasn’t found them, mysterious things start happening, like letters and phone calls. She hires a private detective who suddenly disappears and so on, I don’t think I can tell you anymore, you should read it instead. The ending is quite shocking. And incase my father is reading this I’m not gonna spoil it for him.

I’m off to work now. My head is feeling a lot better. Have a nice day:) Photos from my stay in Asker will be posted later today.

new books again

Yeah, I know, you’re probably tired or reading about my new books all the time. I finished Veronica decides to die yesterday so I had to get some new ones today, this time I bought two. I really love Paulo Coelho and since The Alchemist is his most famous book, I had to get it. And also I’ve heard many people talk about The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón so I bought that one also. Can’t wait to start reading, so now I’m off to bed. Good night:)

Veronica decides to die

I just finished “Eleven minutes” by Paulo Coelho. It was a really good book. It’s based around a young prostitute named Maria, who is on a journey to find what true love is but ends up letting her own life guide her. She’s writing a journal through out the book and it is so beautiful. I had to put a bookmark on a page, because it was so beautiful written. You should absolutely read this book.

Yesterday I bought a new book. I decided to read another one of Paulo Coelho, since I really liked the other one. Mari recommended veronica decides to die. I’m already a hundred pages into the book and so far I love it.

Have you read any good books lately?

Hooked on reading

Lately I’ve had this habit of reading in bed before I go to sleep. I’ve just recently finished a really good book called “Broken Paradise” of Cecilia Samartin. It was really good, I loved it. In Spain I finished Dan Browns last book – “the lost symbol”, yet another really good book you should read!

Yesterday when I was going to bed I had nothing to read, I didn’t know what to do, how can I go to bed without reading? Therefore I went to a bookstore on my way home from work to get a new book. I chose a book of Paulo Coelho – “Eleven minutes”. The lady in the store recommended it.

So now I’m off to bed to read a little before I go to sleep. Good night everyone:)
