Lazy days. Loving it!
Sometimes when we don’t want to go to the beach we have the opportunity to go to this amazing resort not far from where we’re staying. It’s just amazing there. Pools everywhere.

I’ve never been to an outdoor movie before. I was really surprised by how good it was. Great picture and great sound. There was so many people there, and the weather was perfect. Some of them brought blankets and pillows and arrived in a pyjamas. We didn’t bring much. Just long pants and hoodies, incase it would be cold, but we almost had too much on. We also rented some bean beds, which was soooo comfy to lie on. Morten almost fell asleep. The movie was really good as well. We saw Snow White and the huntsman. Seen it?
Here’s some photos I took. Hard to see much because it was dark. But you get the feeling.

It took almost 2 days for us to get to Port Douglas, because we chose to travel to the airport the night before. We were so tired when we first got here. None of us manage to sleep on the plane. Yesterday we went for a little walk around in the area and had a really good dinner with Bodil and Stephen (Morten’s cousin and her husband) at The Beach Shack. I had a fish from the reef, nannygai, it was so good!! We talked, drank and got to know each other. A great evening!
Today we went to the beach with the dogs. They have two English Springer Spaniels, Archie and Dudley. They LOVE the beach. It was so much fun watching them run around with their sticks and jumping in the water. Then we went home with them, ate some lunch and went in to Port Douglas (an hour walk along the beach). I love that it’s so hot here and that I can finally tan again. I’m so happy!:)

Wildlife habitat. We just walked by and this little guy was sitting right in front of us.

A larval we saw on the road. Never seen one like this ever!

From the beach today.

So exotic!

Morten trowing a stick in the water. Dudley kept coming to us wanting us to trow it. While Archie just played for himself.

Look how cute they are! So tired from the beach.
Tomorrow we’re going to an outdoor cinema to watch Snow White and the Huntsman. I’ve never been to an outdoor cinema so I’m exited! I sorta think it’s gonna be a little bit romantic:)
We’re at Melbourne airport waiting to check in. The plane doesn’t leave until 6 am, so we had to get here the night before, because there’s no trains going that early up to Southern Cross. We brought our mac’s to watch some series and play some games:) It’s really cold here and I’m getting tired of waiting. Hopefully it won’t be too long till we can check in.
We’re going up to Cairns, Port Douglas, to stay with Morten’s Cousin and her husband for two weeks. I’m really looking forward to sun and warm weather! Melbourne’s so cold at the moment.

When I got to the meeting yesterday I was the first one there, so I got to speak to my teacher a little bit before the others arrived. She actually didn’t know anything about the meeting either. I knew more than she did actually, because I got a mail the day before telling us we were gonna have lunch with Natalie. So we had lunch, we talked and showed her our folios, she talked some more and that was really it. There were no internships, no jobs she wanted us to do. It was just a meet’n'greet.
Natalie Bloom is a really nice down to earth person. She talked about her days studying at RMIT, how she got to where she is today and she gave us a lot of tips. Like getting into digital medias, which is a huge thing at the moment and tons of things about how they do their packagings. It was a laid back atmosphere through out the whole meeting and we got to ask her tons of questions. I have to admit I was a little disappointed that there was no internship or any agenda behind the meeting other that getting to meet Natalie.
I’m glad I was picked out though. I got a chance to speak to Jo, who is one of our teachers, I’m not in her class so I haven’t had a chance to get to know her really. I think she noticed me yesterday and she loved the idea with the folio I made as a leave behind, incase Natalie didn’t have time to look at it.
So there you have it guys. There was no point in me being so nervous;)
This is what I’m wearing for the meeting with Natalie Bloom today. The skirt and the shoes are new:) I have to run catch the tram now, wish me luck!

Sweater from Weekday, skirt form Valley Girl, shoes from Wittner.

Necklace from H&M and rings from Sportsgirl.

So I actually spent two days finishing the folio for the meeting with Natalie Bloom. I didn’t think it would take that long. Though I took tons of breaks:P I had to wait for the glue to dry and stuff, so that’s probably it. I’m happy with the outcome and the photos for this folio turned out great, compared to the actual folio I handed in at the end of this semester.
I photographed almost each step while I was binding. The hardest parts was putting on the fabric around the covers and of course the sawing part. I spent all day sawing it. Stupid thread. It kept tangling. At one point it actually broke, as I was trying to tighten it as much as possible. So there’s a knot in there that shouldn’t be there. But it’s not too visible. The binding method I used is called a coptic stitch binding. I’ve never done it before so I used a tutorial on youtube. I’m happy with how it turned out considering it’s my first try.

Two days ago I received an email from one of the teachers I got at RMIT. I rarely check my student email. It was just a coincidence that I checked the communication design group on Facebook, someone had posted a list with five student numbers telling them to check their emails. At the bottom of the list was my student number. I got so nervous when I saw it, I had no idea what it could be. The email said that our teacher had picked me and four others to meet Natalie Bloom on Tuesday. “It’s a big opportunity, bring your folio.”
I got so nervous and excited. The email was so unclear on what’s going to happen in the meeting. Will one of us have a chance to get an internship with Natalie, or does she want one of us to do a job for her. I have no idea. I always get so nervous when it comes to these kind of things. What am I going to say to her, will she ask us questions, do I have to speak about my folio in front of the four others?
So now I’m preparing myself the best way I can. I printed a new folio yesterday, which I’m going to bind as a book today (as we speak actually). I’m doing research on Natalie Bloom as I’ve never heard of her before. She graduated from RMIT in 1992 with a bachelor in communication design. At the age of 22 she started her own business Bloom Cosmetics. Bloom cosmetics is now a really big brand in Australia and the rest of the world. This year she won Alumnus of the year at RMIT, where she held a speech about her journey from graduating school to a successful businesswoman. She loves fashion and design, so I sorta feel that we have a little bit in common.
I also bought some new clothes yesterday that I’m going to wear to the meeting. God, I’m nervous, but grateful I get to have this opportunity! I was really surprised that I was picked out, I must have done something right semester:)

I’ve been wanting those thin silver rings for so long. Since I’m broke and had no idea where to get them, I thought all hope was gone. Until I discovered them at Sportsgirl and my lovely boyfriend bought them for me. Happy!

On Monday we handed in our folios for this semester. Everyone of us in my house managed to get it done in time. It feels so good handing it in and being done with this semester. It’s like having weights removed from your shoulders. I’m so happy. I know what I have to do different next year, to get everything done and to avoid the same mistakes like I did this semester. I know everything could have beed done so much better, I just didn’t have time.
Anywho. We went to Pearson and Murphy’s for a breakfast together after submitting the folios. Then everyone in 3rd, 2nd and 1st year met up at Workshop for some cheap beers and mingling. All in all a great day. As usual not so good the day after. I was suppose to post this two days ago:P We ended up having a little gathering yesterday as well, sorta a little good bye party for the Norwegians who’s going to Norway for the winter break. I think we’re gonna try to go see a movie tonight before they leave tomorrow.

I got my folio back a few days ago and I’m suuuuper pleased with how the cover turned out. Not so much with the photos inside though. Like I told you I edited them wrong. But there’s nothing to do now other than not to repeat the same mistake next semester. I’ve learned! Hopefully…
So I printed and bound my book at Whites Law Bindery. I could decide exactly how I wanted it to look. Before I got there on Monday I had no idea what color to use or if I wanted to print my logo on there or not. But after looking around and talking to the staff we decided to use UV printing on the logo, black on black, which made the logo pop out a little bit from the cover. It turned out really nice! Love the effect! What do you think?

Hi guys. I just wanted to let you know that I’m on Behance and you can follow me there if you want:)
Behance is sort of an online portfolio where you can display your work, get feedback from others, browse others work, get inspiration, comment, appreciate and follow people you like. It’s a site I would strongly recommend other designers to register on and the perfect site to get inspiration if your stuck.

Follow me here or just watch my folio:)
