New project – Seks om alt

I’ve been working on a project the last month, I’m not sure if I told you about it, I think I did, a while back. I couldn’t tell you then, cause it wasn’t ready, but now it is. I’ve started a new blog with five other girls. It is called Seks om alt. Mari’s boyfriend, Magnus (who was in my class at NKF), made the layout. Then I coded the website in WordPress. It was a fun challenge to do a coding job for a layout that someone else made. I learned a lot by doing so. Anyways, here’s how it looks like:

As I told you we are six girls who’s going to post on this site. Everyone is the same age and sorta grew up together. Now everyones lives are totally different. Mari is studying in Liverpool to become a creative writer. Martine is studying in Oslo to become a vet and is also super athletic and loves skiing. Melissa just became a mom seven months ago to a beautiful boy. Rikke is living in Liverpool with Mari and started studying there this semester. Ane is the only one who’s single and she’s studying in London.
So as you can see, everyone is quite different and I think that this blog might turn out quite good, with a lot of diversity.

I haven’t started blogging there a 100 percent yet, but I will as soon as everyone has posted an entry. Also if you click each of the names in the menu you can get all the entries from each person, including a header photo like this:

For all you english speaking out there I have to disappoint you, the blog is in Norwegian. I’m sure you can try to google translate it though. If you like the idea of the blog and want to follow us in the future please like us on our facebook page.

Christmas Eve!

Christmas Eve was as hot as the day before. I just wore a light summer dress, but I forgot to photograph it. Kristian was in charge of dinner and started early. It turned out amazing! I think I have to admit that this is the best Christmas dinner I’ve ever had.

1: Wrapping some last presents. 2: Traditional Norwegian Christmas food ready!

The chef!

yummy!

Everyone at the dinner table.

The day before Christmas

Since I haven’t updated in a while I have to divide the blog posts about Christmas. So here’s the first one from the day before Christmas. We bought our tree that day and decorated the house. Kristian made porridge (not sure what you call it, in Norwegian it is called grøt). For Christmas it is a tradition in Norway to make this, then you but one almond in it and the person who gets it wins a price. Fredrik won:P

It was a great day, and even though we had 30 degrees outside I was starting to get the Christmas feeling. We ended the night on the porch watching the sunset with some beers.

Since we haven’t got a dining table, we put all our desks together.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Hi guys. I haven’t had the chance to write to you in a while. We decided to do a traditional Norwegian Christmas, so we’ve been busy planing, cocking, cleaning and celebrating. It turned out better than I expected. This was my first Christmas ever without my family. I have tons of photos from the last couple of days, I just haven’t had the time to edit them.

Right now I’m going out shopping, it’ boxing day here in Australia and there’s tons of sale. I just wanted to write a quick post to let you know I’m still here and I survived the Christmas:)

Photo from when we decorated the Christmas three.

Animals from the Gold Coast!

I’ve been in Australia for 6 months now and still I haven’t seen a kangaroo or a koala. But in Gold Coast I saw a lot of other different animals, which I haven’t seen in Melbourne at all.

This funny looking bird was all over Gold coast. He looks so stupid with his long beak. They weren’t afraid of people at all, kinda like pigeons only bigger. It is called an Australian White Ibis.

This is probably one of the most nasty spiders I’ve ever seen. I haaaate spiders. Morten had to take this photo for me cause I was too scared. Saint Andrews Cross Spider is it’s name.

The last day in Gold Coast we went to this place with tons of lizards. They are so cool! This guy posed for me.

This guy is looking right at me.

There were also some brush turkeys there. Okey, they were everywhere! This is a female one…

.. and this is a male turkey.

And of course I had to include the stupid seagulls.

I should never have given one of them a piece of my burger, cause then everyone wanted one. Look how stupid they look!!! ha ha!

10 days in Gold Coast pt. 2

Here’s part two of the photos from Gold Coast. I took sooo many so it’s been hard to narrow them down. There were so many cool animals there as well, so I figured I could make a blog post with just the animal photos. Good plan? Yeah, I think so.

All these photos are from our last five days in Gold Coast, the days with best weather. We spent most of them on the beach, reading, tanning and body boarding.

Here I’m standing in the water taking a photo of our apartment. I put in an arrow for you;)

My father and Morten after a play in the water.

Handsome!

Me on our way to eat breakfast.

Morten enjoying the view. My father in a tree.

Snapper rocks. A great place to surf, not that I tried surfing there. Too big waves.

At Coolangatta hotel playing pool. We had like four hours to kill before our flight back home to Melbourne.

10 days in Gold Coast pt. 1

I haven’t blogged in a while because my father was here till late Saturday, so I would rather spend my time with him instead of blogging. I’m sure you guys understand. It was really sad saying goodbye to him. It’s okay having your family on the other side of the globe when you don’t see them, and when you do it is absolutely fantastic, but then they have to leave again and you miss them even more. He got home safe last night after a 24 hour trip. He texted me last night telling me he had landed, at that time I felt I could finally breath again. I know it’s safe to fly, but you’re always a little worried.

Anyways, the time with my father down here was amazing! We managed to do loads of stuff in 16 days. 10 of those days were spent in Gold Coast at Kirra Beach/ Coolangatta. Such a beautiful place! The weather wasn’t the best, but we got 3-4 days with sun. I took tons of photos, so I figured I could divide them in two. Here’s part one. The second part will be up later today if I get the chance.

Morten on top of a little hill with an amazing view. This is the beach we spent the most time at, Kirra beach. Our apartment is just in front of the orange building there.

Here’s the view the other way of Coolangatta city.

We went to Surfers Paradise one day when it was raining just to explore. It was so beautiful there. Unfortunately it rained so much so we didn’t get to look around properly. Though we had the best meal there ever!

Me and my father in Coolangatta.

The lifeguard houses on the beach.

Finally good weather. My father bought a couple of body boards. He and Morten had so much fun with these boards, I’ll show you some photos in the next post.

Morten and I rented some surf boards for a two days. This was his first time trying ever and my…ehh.. third? It was fun, but really hard and the surf wasn’t the best the days we tried.

Here’s Morten trying to catch a wave.

One last photo of the beautiful place.

There is something I haven’t told you…

This is my boyfriend:)

Christmas market at the Swedish Church

Every year around this time the Swedish church down here in Melbourne arrange a Christmas market. It’s for us Scandinavians down here and also a big hit for the Australians. They sold waffles, Danish hot dogs and tons of Scandinavian food. I bought some Norwegian/Swedish candy. Joy!

Outside the Swedish Church.

My dad and Kristian watching the animals.

Some ducks.

Lots of tents where you can buy different stuff.

Waffles are the best if you haven’t had them in a long time.

Penguins in St Kilda

I’ve been living in Melbourne for almost six months and I had no idea there was penguins in St Kilda. I just learned the day my father arrived. So last Sunday we went out on the pier to watch them. When the sun sets all the penguins comes back from fishing. There are around 1000 penguins living in the rocks on the pier. They are so cute!!

The pier in St Kilda.

The first penguin we saw. Cute!

Just had to snap a photo of this sign. Kinda funny.

My father looking for the penguins.

This is a water rat called rakali. They also live in the rocks with the penguins. His tail was really long and had a white tip.

Waiting for the penguins.

Melbourne in two days

Hi everyone. The reason you haven’t heard from me in a while is that I’m in Gold Coast, Kirra beach, with no internet. We arrived on Monday and will be here till next Thursday. The weather is not as good as we hoped, but I’m having the best time anyway. Yesterday we bought a pre-paid internet, so photos will probably be up by the end of the weekend.

As you know, my father came down to visit me last Friday, he’s also with me here in Gold Coast. We only had two days in Melbourne before we had to leave. I tried to plan those days as good as I could so that he could see most of my new home town.

Day 1:

We started the day with a walk along the beach to St Kilda. Here’s my father on the top of a little hill right in the middle of Brighton and St Kilda. You can see Melbourne CBD in the background.

Then we took the tram up to the city. The first photo here is from the Christmas decorations in QV and the second one was taken inside Melbourne Central.

After I had shown him my school and a few other essential places we went up to Rooftop bar in Swanston street. We had a few beers and talked to some Norwegian girls before we headed down.

From Rooftop bar we took a walk through Federation Square and watched the view from the bridge.

Melbourne city.

Day 2:

There are so many streets and suburbs in Melbourne that is worth a visit. So the second day we took a walk in Chapel street, which is probably one of the longest shopping streets here in Melbourne. My father loves beer so when we stumbled by this huge liquor store he was in heaven.

After Chapel street we went down to check out Luna Park in St Kilda. The roller coaster in Luna Park is the worlds oldest one. We didn’t ride with it though. Just went in there to watch.

Here we’re walking along St Kilda beach on our way out to the pier to watch the penguins. Photos of our meeting with the penguins will be up later today or tomorrow:)

Beautiful St Kilda beach.

My father is coming!!!!!!

I’m soooo happy!! Today my father is coming to visit me!! I never thought he would come down here. I’m gonna go meet him at Southern Cross in 25 minutes. weeeee! happy!!!

Oh! And it is his birthday today! I’ve made him a cake and bought some good beers.
