Welcome
Hi and welcome to my personal blog and your free resource site. I'm a 25 years old Girl from Asker, Norway. I just came back from Melbourne, Australia. Where I got my bachelor degree in graphic design at RMIT University. Now I'm on a job hunt, while working at H&M in Oslo. In my blog I write about school, fashion, life and whatever else I like. Butterfly

Two butterflies were trapped right outside our door the other day. They were so beautiful!

A sorry + outfit

Hi guys. The vacation is killing my blog. I’ve been so hung up on doing stuff, like going to the beach, the movies, eating out, relaxing, that I’ve totally forgot to update my blog. Sorry about that. After we handed in our magazines on Monday we went out to Workshop (a bar not too far from Melbourne central). I had slept like three hours that night, so I got pretty drunk, and pretty hungover on Tuesday. Not my finest moment. I had fun though.

Anyway. Here’s an outfit I wore this week. Quite similar to the one in my magazine:)

Top from BikBok, Shorts from Sportsgirl, shoes from Big W.

Folio celebration

We handed in our folios on Wednesday. That day was so amazing, it was 30 degrees outside. We gathered at our place after we submitted the folios for beers at the beach, then pizzas on the porch.

At the beach

We made a new friend.

Still cold in the water, but amazing when it’s so hot in the air.

Everyone. I love this photo!

Anders had been up for over 40 hours. After some beers he fell asleep like this:P

Final week!!

First of all, thank you so much for all the great comments about my magazine! I haven’t had time to reply everyone. Sorry about that. I showed the magazine to the teacher yesterday for one final feedback. She was real happy with me and just asked me to correct some of my text. So that’s great.

These last days has been so hectic. Yesterday we handed in the 1500 word essay. Mine sucked! I’m just hoping to pass. It’s quite hard to fail in that subject, so I don’t think that’ll be a problem. Tomorrow is the due date for our portfolios. I’m still up working, even though the clock is 4:50 am. I’m really tired, but I have to get it done. Right now I’m just taking a break to write to you.

Unhealthy exam week with lots of junk food. Yummy!

Here’s everyone at school, working late. (photo from yesterday)

Morten and Anders a few days back. Lots of hard work – too little sleep.

Me at the moment, working on the portfolio. Here’s the website I’m making for my elective. It’s still not coded, so I just have to show images of it in my portfolio.

After tomorrow we can finally relax a bit. Cause our magazines are not due until Monday. I can’t believe I’m almost done with a whole semester in Melbourne. It has gone by so quickly. Though I can feel that I really need a vacation now. I’m exhausted!

The Magazine: Spire

Here’s finally my magazine (almost finished). I took the photos before I went to school today. This is still my first mock-up and I need to do some changes before I hand it in. Just small stuff though, like the body text and stuff. The teacher thought it looked really good, so I’m pleased. Now I have to go to a print shop to get it printed properly and then start the binding all over again.

Magazine binding

I didn’t finish in time to take photos of the magazine today. I was maybe an hour too late. Oh well. I have to do it tomorrow. At least I got to try out the binding part today. This was my first time ever binding a magazine. I’m quite pleased. But I have to print it in a print shop till next time. Cause the photos didn’t turn out the way I wanted with my printer. Photos from the Binding today:

When I posted the previous post this is what I was doing. Binding the magazine with thread.

Close-up.

Too late. I didn’t finish the magazine in time. I have to take photos of it tomorrow instead.

The finished magazine. I’ll show it to you tomorrow when I’ve taken the photos:)

More magazine photos

As we speak I’m printing my magazine. I don’t have time to go to a print shop, so I’m just printing at home. Then I’m gonna put it together to make it look like a real magazine. I’ve never done that before, so wish me luck. I’m trying to hurry before the sun goes down, cause I need to take photos of the magazine today (for my portfolio). I’m don’t think I’ll make it though. I’ll show you how it turns out when I’m done:)

Top from Sportsgirl, headband from Gina Tricot and bracelet from H&M.

one big ass spider

The spiders here are no smaller than the ones I had in my old apartment in Norway. The only difference is that they are even more nasty here. They have some weird looking legs, the two sets in front are longer than the ones in back. They also sometimes move sideways. The spider you see in the photo under came into our house yesterday. I was the first one to see it and I screamed. Believe me, I screamed! I hate spiders so much, words can’t even describe how much I hate them.

Morten was the one who finally managed to get it down from the ceiling. Then he just grabbed it with a little washing cloth. I can’t believe he dared. I stayed at least 10 meters away (still screaming).

Underestimated the sun

Ooh yes. I’m red!

Morten and I decided to go to the beach yesterday to start working on our tan. Unfortunately we didn’t have any sunscreen. We though that it didn’t matter cause we weren’t supposed to be there long. Only read a couple of pages in our books and just relax a bit before we had to go inside to work on our portfolios. We stayed there for 2 hours, until we could feel on our skin that we’d had enough. That was 2 hours too long in the sun. After an hour we started turning red. Now we look like two tomatoes and it burns really bad. Stupid! Morten is actually almost purple, that’s how burned he got.

Never gonna go tanning without sunscreen ever again. We learned our lesson:P

Outfit…

… and maybe magazine photos?

I’m not sure if I’m gonna use them though, cause one of the guys here told me he thought it looked too much like a sunglass ad. What do you think?

Dress from H&M, top from MinkPink, sunglasses from Lindex, bag and ring from Sportsgirl.

..in over my head

I have so much to do and so little time.

Next Tuesday (October 18) I have to have written an 1500 words essay.
Next Wednesday (October 19) I have to have finished my portfolio for this semester.
Next Monday (October 24) I have to have designed and coded a website.
Next Monday (October 24) I have to have the magazine completely done. For the magazine assignment I also have to make an iPad version and a second magazine cover for the next issue. Also the magazine and the website is supposed to be in the portfolio so I actually have to get them done before the 19th. Fuck me!

Right now I’m not working structured at all. I’ve sorta started on everything at once. Every time I get tired of one thing I start working on another. I have no idea how to get everything done in time. The essay is probably the thing that bothers me the most. It is soooo boring and I don’t understand the subject at all. It’s Histories and Technologies. EVERYONE hates that subject, no joke. I see no point learning about this s**t what so ever. I gain nothing from it, just takes up my valuable time.

On top of everything we have to move. There should be more hours in a day.

Okay. I want to show you what I’ve done so far and maybe ask you guys for some feedback. I like hearing your opinions. Under you see the two magazine covers, the first one is for the magazine I’m making and the second one is for the next issue, which I’m not gonna make, I just have to have the cover for it. I’ve tried to combine illustration and photo on the first one and on the second one I’ve drawn everything on my tablet in illustrator. I’m not sure about the second one though, is it too cartoon-ish? Or does it look too much like a little kid made it? Also is it too far off the first cover so it doesn’t look like it’s the same magazine?

House inspection

We went on a house inspection today. It’s pretty hard to find a house down here that fits seven people. We manage to find one in St Kilda East, near Balaclava station, so we went to have a look. It’s not nearly as big as the one here in Brighton, but it has enough rooms. It’s also quite old and the standard is not super. But it works. It’s about the same price as here. I loved the backyard though, it was amazing. I think we’re gonna send in an application. We just need to settle everything with our real estate firm to see if it’s okay that we move out now, or if we have to pay for another month.

I forgot that I had brought my camera, so I only took this photo outside.

Assignment 3 – branding

Assignment 3, or actually assignment 2 in Studio 2 was to make a logo for an existing company. The task was called Demons to Angels. So we were to make a new logo that was “nicer” than the existing one. I got Xstrata, which is a mining company in Switzerland. They also do mining in Australia. Their existing logo is really bad. The colors and everything doesn’t look good. In my logo I decided to use the colors of the minerals. Also my font is rounded to make it more “angel”-like and to make a nice contrast to the pointy pictogram.

I haven’t got the grade back on this assignment either, so I have no idea how I did. What do you think?

Bowling birthday

Yesterday we celebrated Cathrine’s 24th birthday. We started the night off at her place with cakes and some drinks. Then everyone went down to Melbourne Central for two rounds of bowling at Rockstar bowling. It was supposed to be a quite night with not too much alcohol, but that didn’t happen. We had a blast though. And I won both rounds. I didn’t know I was any good, cause I haven’t played in like 3-4 years. Who knew? I took tons of photos last night, here’s only nine of them. If you’re friends with me on Facebook you can see the rest there.
