Welcome
Hi and welcome to my personal blog and your free resource site. I'm a 25 years old Girl from Asker, Norway. I just came back from Melbourne, Australia. Scan art 2011

Scan art = Scandinavian art.

Down here in Melbourne they have an art exhibition every year for Scandinavian artists. If you’re a photographer, graphic designer, painter or whatever art-ish you can have your work displayed. You just have to send in your work and a jury picks out what they like the most. Two of my friends displayed their work there today. One with photographs and one with a graphic design work. I loved both of them:)

The place was quite nice, it was not big, but had enough room for the work to be displayed proper and it had this basement feeling. Kinda rough. I liked it. In the corner they also had a bar where you could buy beer, whine or whatever else. Then you could mingle with everyone there and discuss the art.

Skate board art.

Bad photo! Cathrine is on the right almost in focus, while the bar area is in the back there quite blurry. Oh well!

Have a nice Friday everyone:) I’m gonna go play some pool now (and have some beers…..hush…:P).

Update: life & school

Hi! long time, no see. I have this big wish to start updating my blog regularly, but things always get in the way. The best thing for me is to update at school. The problem is that my FTP won’t work at school cause they have blocked that kind of activity online. Stupid RMIT. So I can only edit my photos and write the blog post without posting it. I have to wait till I get home. (This blog post was made three days ago, sorry for not posting it sooner, I’ve just been so busy.)

I was supposed to show you my room as well. The thing is that after I got my dresser and cleaned it properly it just looks so empty and boring. I don’t have anything on my walls, and all the furnitures are from Ikea. Boring room actually. Though I can post some photos if you want?

I’ve totally forgot to tell you about my last assignments at school. The one after the Mohawk booklet was a wayfinding assignment. We had to make three signs for either Victoria State Library, GPO (General Post Office) or Federation Square. I got the state library. So for my signs I wanted abstract books. I made one sign for the entrance hall, one for the elevators and one for the La Trobe Reading Room. I was quite happy with my signs until the due day arrived. I struggled with setting them up in a way that would show you how they work. Pluss the print turned out too dark. Oh well.

Click to enlarge. When I look at them now, I hate them. I still got time to change them though, for my portfolio. I also haven’t got my grade back yet. We’ll probably get them today actually, or next Monday. I’ll show you my next assignment in a few days:)

Glow stick party

Here’s some photos from the party we held on Saturday. I’ve borrowed all the photos from Cathrine, because I didn’t take any myself. You don’t get the feeling of how many people we had over, there was 50++ I think and it was so much fun! Fredrik had bought glow sticks some days before, they were a big hit, believe me!

Glow sticks, also attached to the fan in the ceiling.

Plenty of fun with glow sticks.

Diana trying our smallest bike. I love this photo!

The hangover

We had the biggest party on Saturday. We invited everyone in class, which is 100++, though only 50 came. That’s quite a lot of people. But our house is so big, so it didn’t actually feel like that many. It was such a fun night. It started off with just us Norwegians, we ordered pizza, ate and talked until some of the Australians started to arrive. Then we played pool and drank the rest of the night. It went amazingly well, considering there was so many people here. I’m sure we’re gonna throw a lot more parties in the future!

The day after everyone was so hungover. But the weather was too good to miss, so we went to a little coffee house just by the beach (a 5 minutes walk from the house). I think it’s more like an ice cream shop in the summer. I took some photos for you. Unfortunately I didn’t use my camera at the party, but if you want to see some I might be abel to “steal” some from a friend?!

My breakfast: coffee and muffin.

We went to Ikea today for dinner and some last shopping for the house/my room. So tomorrow I’ll get all the stuff and I can finally get my room in order. I’ll probably show it to you tomorrow if I get it done:) Don’t expect anything really cool though, I’m just a student. My walls are all empty. I only bought a dresser today and some other stuff, cause I’m still sorta living out of my suitcase.

Pool table!!!

We got a pool table yesterday!!

And also a new sofa. The pool table is from gumtree.com.au and was quite cheep, while the sofa was free. We found it on the street along with many of our other furnitures. It’s weird, in this country they place the furnitures they don’t want anymore on the street and then you can just go pick it up if you want. The sofa was pretty comfy, just a little bit broken in the back, but still works. The pool table and the new sofa will be perfect for this weekend, cause we’re having a big party.. again;)

Spontaneous party on Saturday

We suddenly decided to have a party on Saturday. No one had alcohol and no one was actually ready for a party, but we had one anyway. We ran to a liquor store and prepared the house in a hurry. It turned out to be a pretty fun night. It was us, plus two asians from our class, 4 girls from America, two people from Australia and one other Norwegian guy from our class. Many nationalities. Super fun night. I took some photos for you. Not that many though cause I always forget to take photos at our parties.

We started the party in the sofas, but as it progressed we moved to the floor just outside the kitchen. Much warmer there.

This photo was not taken by me. I sorta stole it from Josie. I just wanted one with me in it:P

Waffle night at a Swedish church

ANSA, the organization for Norwegian students abroad invited everyone to a free waffle night at the Swedish church in Toorak. The waffles was amazing, best ones I’ve tasted in a long time. Afterwards they opened a shop with tons of Norwegian products. I bought some candy and some food I’ve been missing. It was the perfect night, especially when you’re as hungover as I’ve been today:P

Yummy waffles with jam and sour cream, Norwegian style.

My name is hard

My name doesn’t work in English. They always get it wrong down here, and for some reason they end my name with an A instead of an E. Vibeka? I kinda like my name in Norwegian, but here it’s just weird, and I sorta wish I had a more universal name. When I get a kid I’m gonna name it something that you can say in both English and Norwegian.

At Starbucks and almost every other coffee places here in Melbourne you have to say your name when you buy a coffee. So when I say my name, they’re like: “Rebecca??”, and I say, “nooo, Vibeke”. In the end I have to spell it, but even then they manage to get it wrong. Annoying. Oh well.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Yesterday we went to the cinema to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes, we were actually going to see Captain America, but no cinemas in the area showed it. This is the second cinema we’re at here in Melbourne. A while back we saw the last Harry Potter movie in the city. This time we went to a cinema in South Yarra, Village Jam Factory. A really cool place, it’s like this big shopping center with lots of places to eat and a few clothing stores. The movie was really good too, I was surprised. I haven’t seen the first one, cause it’s not my kind of movie (I think).. But this one was great!

Everyone, except me.

The ceiling inside the cinema.

Buying tickets. They had this really cool billboard over the counter with all the movies displayed. It kinda looks like you’re at the airport.

We got there almost two hours before the movie started, so we sat down to have some beers and just relax.

Morten drew on a newspaper laying there. Turned out pretty cool.

Kristoffer posing with an African sculpture. Nice.

A really funny ad I found on the cinema toilets. I laughed so hard when I saw this!!

Justframeless is 2 years!

Today is my websites birthday. I just noticed it, it’s not like a date I keep remembering. Two years is a long time, though it doesn’t feel like it. When I go back in my archive it still feels like something I’ve just written. Sometimes when I’m really bored I like to scroll through old posts, it’s cool to see what I did back then. It’s like a diary. That’s why I get a little angry with myself when I have long breaks between each entry. Like the ones I’ve had down here in Melbourne. It’s not always easy to keep up with everything, especially when school takes most of my time. I’m gonna tell you more about my school, classes and everything in a blog post later.

Now I’m off to the city. Fridays is my day off, while some of the others I live with have classes. We’re gonna go the movies and see… something… I’m not quite sure actually:P The plan was to see Captain America, but I think it started a bit too early. So I’m just gonna meet up with the others and discuss what we do/see later. Have a good day Everyone!!

Biiird

I totally forgot to show you this photo. I took it a while back, maybe two weeks after we arrived in Melbourne. In contrary to Norway there’s sparrows inside, in every food court, Starbucks and other coffee shops. They just fly around in the stores looking for food. This bird landed on our table. I gave it some of my quiche, which it took happily, then it stayed there long enough for me to snap a photo of it. So cute! It almost looks unreal, right?

Needed something different!

I made a new layout. I don’t like it. But I was so tired of the old one. Sometimes when I’m too tired of a layout I don’t feel like blogging. So now that there’s finally been a change I’m gonna blog more.. I think. I hope. I pray. This layout is just the same as the old one, I just changed some colors and put the pictures together in a different way and added some ugly effects:P

I also change the ugly font I used in my headers on the previous layout. I can’t believe I picked that script font in the first place, it was quite tacky. It’s been replaced with a more simple, cleaner font from Google fonts and I love it! Do you?

I’ve done some shopping!

The shopping in Melbourne is great. Though I miss H&M. My favorite store so far has to be Sportsgirl. They have so much cool stuff. The only downside is that it’s a little bit too expensive. A regular singlet with some print and pearls on, costs $70. For the same top at H&M it would’ve only costed like $25. Other than that Sportsgirl is absolutely amazing. I’ve also seen some other stores I would love to check out, I just haven’t had the time yet. Every time I’m in the city it’s because of school and it’s not fun dragging my mac and all the school supplies around in shopping centers.
Question for Australians: What is your favorite shop?

Top from Ozmosis, brand MinkPink.

Bag from Sportsgirl

Details. Love it!

Rings from Sportsgirl. The cross is my absolute favorite, I wear it all the time!

I wanted this ring so much the first time I saw it a month back, but I wasn’t sure about the color. Then I found it yesterday on sale. $10 off. I’m not unsure of the color anymore, especially when I got it for just $7. So happy!:)

Cool idea!

Coffee cups at a café in Ormond street. I love the idea!

A Saturday in Ormond

Today was a good day. We slept till 2 pm, which was too long, but absolutely fantastic. Then we hurried to Ormond street before the stores closed. Morten wanted to buy a skateboard/longboard, so we went to RPS first, both he and Krisoffer bought one each. Afterwards we drank some beers and enjoyed the sun while it lasted.
