Yesterday while I was talking to a friend in Norway on facebook, she suddenly wrote that there was a big thunder right outside. I didn’t think too much about it, but two minutes later she wrote that it wasn’t thunder it was a bomb(!!!). A bomb went off in Oslo city at 15:26 yesterday. 7 people died and many was injured. How can something like that happen in Oslo? We followed the horror online from Australia. It’s just unbelievable. Before I went to bed I heard a little bit about some kind of shooting on Utøya, an island not too far from Oslo. A man dressed as a policeman opened fire.
The first thing I did when I woke up was to check internet for more news. The first heading I met was “80 people killed on Utøya”. WTF? The man dressed as a policeman set off the bomb in Oslo city, then he went up to Utøya and killed tons of people. Who does that? He is a Norwegian man from Oslo, blond, 32 years old. The police has arrested him. We’re still following everything online to get more information. They are also still searching Utøya for more deceased. Unbelievable.

Today I didn’t have school. Since I chose web design as my election I have classes on Wednesdays instead of Fridays. Most of the people I live with had school today, though they chose some other elections, like typo and photo. I want to go photo too, but I think I’ll take that in my third year instead. Btw I go second year now.
When I woke up today I felt like cleaning the whole house. It has been a mess here ever since we moved in. No one here cleans up after themselves. So annoying. After we got our beds and stuff from Ikea all the packagings, plastics and cardboard boxes has just been laying around all over the house. Plus tons of empty beer bottles. We drink alot:P I took some before and after shots for you. Oh and you can see that we’ve got some couches now. We no longer have to sit on the floor, which is super nice.
After we cleaned the house I went for a 30 minutes run along the beach. It is so beautiful in this aera. And it’s perfect to run here. Hopefully I’ll be abel to keep it up, I have to get ready for the bikini season in a few months:P

Yesterday was our first day at RMIT university. We got our first assignment straight away. It’s for a real client here in Australia, mohawk digital (or something like that). We have to make a promotional piece. We can do whatever we want, but the objective is to make them sell more. I haven’t come up with an idea yet cause I’m totally blank now. To start school this soon after just finishing one is all wrong:P
Today we had our first lecture in communication history and technology. It was so boring. We also have to enroll into some tutorial classes but they are all full. So we had to talk to the teacher about that. Hopefully she’ll be abel to get us in somewhere.
Tomorrow is my first electives class. I chose web. Of course. I’m really exited about that actually, I just hope it’ll be fun and not too time consuming because of my other classes.

Here in Melbourne we are quite a lot of Norwegian students at the moment. Yesterday we all got together to get to know each other. After talking and drinking at an apartment in the city we went out. We had no idea where to go since we’ve never been out in Melbourne. We ended up at this place in China town. It was free to get in and they had this big pool area. I love playing pool, so it was just perfect.

Before we went out. Our first homemade meal together in the house. As you can see we still don’t have any furnitures.

On the metro to the city.

Agnete and Malene. Two girls from Asker, where I grew up. Nice to see some familiar faces at the party.

We had our first night here in the new house on Friday. It was great moving out of the backpacker place. I finally got my own room, which I’ll show you pictures of later. Here’s photos from the first day/night.

Arianne cleaning with new shoes.

Messy!

Morten found two trays of beer in the house. Stacked away in one of the closets here. Free alcohol!!

Cleaned up the living room.

The first night we placed all our beds together in the living room.

Morten tried on one of my rings. He couldn’t get it off again.

At the end of the night all the beer was gone and this was the last photo from the night. Not sure what’s going on here:P
I’ve been so busy the last days. I haven’t had time to update until now. We’ve been struggling to get enrolled at school. Still not sure if we’re enrolled actually. School starts on Monday, so I hope everything is in order. Here’s some photos from the last days.

Morten at Ikea. So happy to find some Scandinavian food.

Arianne, not so happy cause there was something wrong with the machine.

Pizza night at some Norwegian friends of ours down here.

Cutes dog ever at a pet store. Here in Australia they keep the dogs in a cage. Five puppies in one cage. So different from Norway.

Arianne and I went to get some bed slats. We had to get three and we were only two people. They were soooo haevy. And we had to take four different trams. It sucked!

Me on the tram with all the heavy bags!
Today we went to the house for the first time with our own key. Felt good. We haven’t gotten any furnitures yet though. We stopped by Ikea to get some beds, but they were out of the ones we wanted so we have to go back tomorrow. We also don’t have any electricity yet, but some people are coming tomorrow morning to get it installed. Therefore we’re still staying at Base backpackers. Hopefully we’ll be abel to move in tomorrow:)
We also set up an Australian bank account today, so everything is finally coming together:) Here’s some photos I took of the house today.

I was planning on updating my site early today, but we’ve had so much to do, so I haven’t had the chance before now. These photos are from yesterday and some from today.
WE GOT A HOUSE TODAY!!!!!!!
We went on this house inspection yesterday, the one in the middle of St Kilda and Brighton. The house is just right on the beach and it’s huge. Just perfect for us, since we’re six people. We filled out the application forms straight away and got the answer early today. So today we signed the contract and got our keys. I’m sooooo happy. Can’t wait to get settled down there. There’s no electricity yet, so we’re still at Base. Tomorrow we’re going to get Australian bank accounts and then so some shopping at Ikea.

Anders at breakfast yesterday. He balanced the juice bottle like that for a long time. Looked so cool.

Me after the house inspection. Time for coffee.

Here we are at Base backpackers filling out the application forms for the house.

It has not been easy trying to update you while getting settled in Melbourne. The first three days we stayed at a hotel in the middle of the city, China town. It was expensive, but a nice start here in Melbourne. On Saturday we moved to x Base, a backpackers hostel in St Kilda. We stay in rooms with 10 beds and often people we don’t know. The plan is to stay here for one week while we’re out house hunting. Hopefully we’ve found a place to live by the end of the week. It’s so frustrating living out of a suitcase.
Today we have three house inspections. One in St Kilda, one near South Yarra and one close to the beach (in the middle of St Kilda and Brighton), which looks absolutely amazing. Our Jet lag is getting better, we only sleep at night now and not napping during the day. Starbucks has become our regular hangout place while we discuss the course of the day. We haven’t found a Starbucks in St Kilda yet though.

Hanging out in the room with a coffee before we start looking for houses.
We’re off to eat breakfast now. I’ll bring my camera today, so hopefully I’ll have some cool pics for you by the end of the day. Bye.
Hi guys.
I’m in Melbourne atm. We arrived early yesterday after 30 hours traveling. My God we were tired! Still got some jet lag. I’ve never traveled that far before.
Right now we’re looking for a house for 6-7 people to rent. Not easy to find.
If you’re from Melbourne or know a good place to look for apartments please let me know:)
Sorry for not adding any photos. I will update you soon:)
